Eco at OWPS
Our Eco code runs alongside our school curriculum and helps to teach children ways At OWPS, our Eco Code is embedded throughout the school curriculum, helping children learn how to care for themselves, each other and the environment while promoting sustainable lifestyles.
Our Eco Code is at the heart of everything we do. Below is the Eco Code that we all work towards each day.

As part of this, children take pride in helping to care for our school by checking that recycling is used correctly, lights are switched off when not needed and taps are not left dripping. We also encourage children to think about greener ways to travel to school. In Year 5, pupils have the opportunity to take part in Bikeability training, developing the skills and confidence to ride safely on and off the road.
Healthy living is also an important part of our Eco Code. Children are encouraged to bring healthy, unpackaged snacks to school where appropriate, and fruit is available each day.
Throughout the year, we also celebrate events such as Earth Day, helping pupils understand the importance of caring for our planet and the positive impact that small everyday actions can have. Our Eco work links closely with other areas of the curriculum, including PSHE and the Five Ways to Wellbeing, where we encourage children to be active, take notice and make positive choices for themselves and the world around them.
